Excursion at Volkel Airforce Base 3th of December 2024
On June 30, 2022, the first four F-35A Lightning II fighter jets arrived at Volkel Air Base, marking the re-establishment of the 313 Squadron as a unit with fifth-generation combat aircraft. At the same time, the new Air Combat Command (ACC) of the Royal Netherlands Air Force was established, overseeing operational fighter jets at the two main bases in Leeuwarden and Volkel, as well as the Air Operations Control Station (AOCS) in Nieuw-Milligen.
The reorganization of the 313 Squadron and the creation of the new ACC represent a significant step in modernizing the Dutch Air Force, with the F-35A serving as the core of the country's air defense capabilities.
