Marine days Den Helder (10th of July) 2022 the Netherlands
The 2022 Marine Days attracted nearly 100,000 visitors. They were given a unique insight into the work of the Royal Netherlands Navy at the naval base in Den Helder. There were various demonstrations and a large number of ships were open to the public. The Marine Days were held for the first time in five years.
The emphasis this time was on various technological innovations within the naval domain. This was done under the theme 'Workforce of the Future'.
What is it like during an anti-drugs operation? The public could get an impression of it via a demonstration. The mine service also came into action by showing how to detonate an explosive safely. Furthermore, the Marine Corps conducted an amphibious.
Two ships that the navy has deployed for NATO in recent times were home just in time for the Navy Days. The frigate Zr.Ms. De Zeven Provinciën was active as a flagship in the Standing NATO Maritime Group 1, while Zr.Ms. Karel Doorman was deployed as a support and supply ship in this fleet. The operations of these ships clearly show the importance of operational readiness of the navy.
The public was not able to board either ship. This was possible with, for example, Zr.Ms. Tromp, Rotterdam, Holland, Makkum, Mercuur and Schiedam. There were also plenty of foreign visitors. Think of the imposing 180-metre-long British landing ship dock Mounts Bay.
Even the youngest target group was thought of. In the marines' village, for example, young children could climb and clamber around and imagine themselves to be real marines.
